[화학/연구개발] Korea Technical Director

A foreign chemical company is searching for a Korea Technical Director. The chosen applicant will lead the technical organisation in Korea and oversee STC operations, including site management, team leadership, budgeting, and external R&D collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the technical teams of the company and its subsidiaries in Korea
• Develop appropriate interaction with Business Management to optimise alignment between R&D organisation and business objectives
• Develop high-level technical relationships with Korean companies, particularly in priority areas such as Energy and Electronics
• Strengthen the link between company R&D and the Korean innovation ecosystem, including start-ups and laboratories
• Ensure site operations comply with company safety standards, including monthly safety meetings
• Build and manage annual R&D and CAPEX budgets for STC
• Define recruitment strategy and profiles for new hires or replacements with Business Units
• Ensure a positive working environment and recognition programs (IP rewards, safety awards, internal/external events, etc.)
• Manage processes, organise monthly meetings, and submit bi-monthly R&D highlights to the company R&D community
• Report monthly key activities, projects, and highlights to the company management committee
• Establish appropriate organisation within STC (Admin, Lab, BU teams)
• Organise annual appraisals for direct reports and review objectives of second-level team members with managers
• Retain, develop, and attract talent
• Identify and initiate collaborations with universities and technology partners in Korea relevant to the company's interests
• Build a network with French, European, and Korean research communities in Korea
• Conduct regular visits and participate in meetings with key accounts in Korea, and support exhibitions and technical talks

Requirements:

• PhD in engineering chemistry or material science
• More than 10 years of experience in an R&D management position in the chemical or high-performance materials field
• More than 3 years of international experience is a plus
• Experience in dealing and interacting with customers, OEMs, R&D community, or authority
• Strong communication skills
• Good understanding of Korean cultures
• Fluent level Korean and English; French is a plus
